Stuart Croft is an artist-filmmaker. His films often focus on themes of power, recurrence, entrapment and desire. His work tampers with fiction, flirts with cinema and re-purposes genre. Film noir, the Hollywood musical, the road movie or the documentary meet a range of textual and literary forms - including the fable, the screenplay, the shaggy-dog story and poetry.

With a body of work comprising 17 films, Croft has shown his work in galleries, contemporary art museums and cinemas in over 25 countries to date. He has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, solo cinema surveys and group shows at venues including Platform China, Beijing / Museum of Contemporary Art (M HKA), Antwerp / Tate Modern Starr Auditorium, London / Bloomberg Space, London / FACT, Liverpool / PS1-MoMA, New York / Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, London / Chisenhale Gallery, London / Royal Academy, London / Kunsthalle Luzern, Switzerland / San Salvador Convent, Venice / Cornerhouse, Manchester / White Box, New York. He has been a regular recipient of various production awards, research grants and commissions.

Stuart Croft is based in London and has taught fine art and film internationally. In 2009 Croft founded the Royal College of Art's Moving Image Studio and in 2013 he established the RCA's new Moving Image Pathway.
